About the Learner-Driven Education Alliance
This is about what the Alliance is, the story behind it, and what we’re trying to build together.
Goal: 1 Million Learner-Driven Schools Globally
That's what it's gonna take to impact every single child. Spread the word! #KidsFirst
It's outdated. It’s irrelevant. And it’s a global problem.
Around the world, government schools are abandoning kids—not out of malice, but because they simply can’t keep up. Technology evolved. The world changed. School didn’t.
We are the people who are doing something about it.
We are the brave ones doing what we know, deep down, is right for kids.
Even if our schools all look different, we’re building on the same foundation—A learner-driven, student-centered, self-directed approach to education that’s focused on life skills, emotional development, and real-world readiness.
We use words like:
- Project-based learning
- Learner agency
- Student choice
- Mastery-based transcripts
- Social-emotional growth
And we may have different flavors such as:
- STEM Academy
- Classical Education
- Forest School
- Wild Schooling
- Life Skills
But what unites us is simple:
We believe learners should have agency.
At the core of it all is one truth:
From the Latin root educo, education means to “draw out from within.”
It’s not about filling an empty vessel.
It’s about recognizing that every child already holds something valuable inside of them.
Our job as educators is to help them discover it.
To draw it out, to cultivate it, and to help them share it with the world in service.
That’s what real education is.
That’s where fulfillment, purpose, and calling come from.
That’s the why behind every learner-driven school, educator, and homeschool mom.
So we stepped out and built what should exist.
We didn’t wait for permission.
We did what was right for kids.
Microschools have led the way—but this isn’t just about micro schools.
Learner-driven education happens in:
• Classrooms
• After-school programs
• Homeschool collectives
• Pods, co-ops, enrichment centers
Anywhere the philosophy exists, this type of work and education exists.
To stop reinventing the wheel in isolation.
To share what works and do it better—together.

🎒 The Starter Kit
When I started my school, I just wanted to teach.
But I had to do everything: payroll, 501(c)(3)s, taxes, budgeting, credit lines, marketing, admin, platforms, website stuff—you name it.

So I made the thing I wish I had:
